Last Congress, when nominees to executive branch positions stalled in the Senate, President Obama used the power of recess appointments to install individuals like labor radical Craig Becker into a position at the National Labor Relations Board. For someone like Becker, it was clear that his recess appointment by the President was nothing more than a ‘payback’ to Big Labor considering his nomination was defeated on a bipartisan vote.
Now, the House is holding President Obama accountable, ensuring other radicals like Becker aren’t appointed to positions without the advice and consent of the Senate. Prior to adjourning for the August recess, the House of Representatives took advantage of a procedural move that will prevent the President from making such appointments.
This should prevent future nominees committed to pursuing job-killing vendettas against small businesses and workers from getting taxpayer-funded jobs.
During the month of August, workers and small businesses owners will be able to breathe a sigh of relief.
