  • SC Stands Up For Jobs, Against Big Labor | Big Labor Bailout

Governor Nikki Haley (R) and the South Carolina Congressional Delegation vowed to fight the pro-Union Boss National Labor Relations Board and its claim that Boeing moved its production of the 787 Dreamliner to a right-to-work-state as retaliation to workers in the Washington-based facility.

    Governor Nikki Haley:

“We will protect Boeing,” Haley said Thursday.

“This is an absolute assault on a great corporate citizen and on South Carolina’s right-to-work status,”Gov. Nikki Haley said.”We will continue to do everything we can to protect that status, and to stand with companies like Boeing who understand what it means to take care of their employees without the interference of a meddlesome, self-serving union. This bullying will not be tolerated in South Carolina.”

    Senator Lindsay Graham:

Graham called the NRLB decision, “One of the worst examples of unelected bureaucrats doing the bidding of special interest groups that I’ve ever seen” and accused the NLRB of, “Doing the bidding of the unions at great cost to South Carolina and our nation’s economy.”

Graham also said the National Labor Relations Board’s request shouldn’t be taken seriously.

    Senator Jim DeMint:

“This is nothing more than a political favor for the unions who are supporting President Obama’s re-election campaign. Unfortunately, it comes at the expense of hundreds of jobs in South Carolina and thousands of jobs nationwide. There is no doubt that if the National Labor Relations Board’s claim against Boeing moves forward, it will have a chilling effect on job growth in my state and in right-to-work states across the country. Using the federal government as political weapon to protect union bosses at the expense of American jobs cannot be tolerated. I intend to use every tool at my disposal as a United States Senator to stop the President from carrying out this malicious act.”

    Congressman Tim Scott:

Scott said Wednesday, “Such heavy-handed tactics on behalf of the President’s union supporters are an affront to the people of the Palmetto State who voted overwhelmingly in support of a constitutional amendment guaranteeing workers the right to secret ballots in union elections.”

  • Union Bosses Are Anti-Union When It Concerns Their Own Employees | Big Labor Bailout

Big Labor tries to paint a picture that they are out working for the common worker, trying to improve their wages, workplace conditions and benefits.  But the opposite is true, and every day the public witnesses their true intentions.

David Hightone, a former Assistant Director of Communications of the Amalgamated Transit Union, was threatened and fired for trying to organize professional staff at the AFL-CIO affiliated union.  This is another clear example of Big Labor being anti-union when it concerns their own employees.

    More:

Highnote said that he experienced similar intimidation. Only two weeks after Highnote signed his union card and started an organizing campaign, a senior advisor to Hanley allegedly threatened, “I only want to say this once. Larry (Hanley) is sensitive to all of the things going on in and outside of the office. If we find out that you are discussing workplace conditions with co-workers or anyone else, then one strike and you’re out.” Other senior Hanley advisors are also alleged to have harassed and attempted to deter him from organizing, but he continued to work to form an in-house union to represent the professional staff as a bargaining unit of the Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild.

The ULP charge also alleges that the ATU’s reason for terminating him was pretextual. No “restructuring” took place, and two business days after his termination, the ATU hired someone into Highnote’s position.

Highnote stated, “People were scared of losing their jobs when Larry Hanley came in. Now that he has pushed out a number of staffers, they’re terrified.”
